A century after The Sun Also Rises was first published, we invite you to embark on a truly special adventure through the very places that inspired one of literature’s most celebrated novels. Imagine strolling from the charming beaches of Biarritz, France, to the vibrant streets of San Sebastián, Spain. Then explore the legendary Pamplona and the stunning Spanish Pyrenees. This exclusive ten-day journey will trace Ernest Hemingway’s footsteps, offering a taste of world-class food, renowned wine regions, iconic hotels, unforgettable cultural experiences and even two incredible days of guided fly fishing in the crystal-clear mountain waters Hemingway adored.
DAY 1 · Hôtel du Palais
BIARRITZ
The journey begins in Biarritz, the same gateway Hemingway used — arriving in France before crossing into Spain. Guests are transferred privately to the Hôtel du Palais, one of the great hotels of Europe, built as a summer residence for Empress Eugénie and facing the Atlantic. The afternoon is their own. In the evening, the group gathers for a private inaugural dinner — the first night of the expedition.

DAY 2 · Hotel Maria Cristina
SAN SEBASTIÁN
A private transfer along the Basque coast brings the group into San Sebastián. Check-in at the Hotel Maria Cristina, a Belle Époque palace on the banks of the Urumea. The morning is devoted to a private historical walking tour of the old town. Lunch is taken at a waterfront restaurant overlooking the Bay of Biscay. The evening brings a Michelin-starred dinner in one of the world's great gastronomic cities.

DAY 3 · Hotel Maria Cristina
BASQUE COUNTRY
A specialist-guided tour of the Basque Coast UNESCO Geopark reveals a coastline unlike any other in the world. The group then moves inland for a curated txakoli wine tour and lunch in the heart of Basque wine country. The day closes with dinner at LOTU, one of the most refined restaurants in the Basque region, conceived by Andoni Luis Aduriz.

DAY 4 · Gran Hotel La Perla
PAMPLONA
A private transfer takes the group to Pamplona — the city Hemingway put on the map. There is only one place to stay: the Gran Hotel La Perla, on the corner of the Plaza del Castillo, where Hemingway himself had his room during the fiesta. Lunch is taken at the Plaza del Castillo. The afternoon is a private guided tour of Hemingway's Pamplona — the bullring, the streets of the old town, the bars, the monuments. A private wine and vermouth tasting precedes a five-course dinner.

DAY 5 · Gran Hotel La Perla
RONCESVALLES · BURGUETE · PAMPLONA
The group follows the route taken by Jake Barnes and Bill Gorton in The Sun Also Rises, travelling north from Pamplona into the mountains towards Roncesvalles and Burguete. The morning begins with a guided visit to the Monastery of Roncesvalles, followed by a walk to Burguete, the village where Hemingway stayed and where his characters lodged. After exploring Burguete, the group returns to Pamplona for lunch at Restaurante Europa.

Days 6, 7 & 8 · Arén Lodge
ARAGONESE PYRENEES
On the morning of Day 6, the group transfers from Pamplona toward the Aragonese Pyrenees with a curated stop in the Somontano wine region — a private visit to the oldest winery in the Pyrenees and a Michelin-starred gastronomic experience at El Château de Pirineos — before arriving at Arén Lodge. Over three days, Teddy Coulter leads the fishing sessions on some of the finest wild trout waters in Europe. For companions who prefer the mountains in other ways, a full parallel programme runs alongside each day, including a private cathedral visit, lunch in a 16th-century monastery, a walk to the castle at Arén, spa treatments, a visit to the best-preserved medieval town in the Pyrenees, an excursion to Aigüestortes National Park, a farmer's lunch and a private chocolate tasting. A farewell tasting menu dinner on the final evening at Arén Lodge gathers the full group before the descent to Zaragoza.

DAY 9 · Innside Zaragoza by Meliá
ZARAGOZA
The descent from the mountains brings the group to Zaragoza. Check-in at the Innside Zaragoza by Meliá, in the heart of the city. The afternoon brings the bullfighting experience. The evening belongs to the farewell dinner.

DAY 10 ·
DEPARTURE
After breakfast, private departure transfers to the airport.
